          Muskogee Community Hospital (MCH) will optimize use of technology to foster safe, high-quality care for patients. This commitment to technology begins with providing a complete electronic medical record (EMR) that is secure and HIPAA compliant. Below are just a few of the ways an EMR benefits you.

          * Your caregivers will have immediate access to critical clinical data to make rapid decisions about your care needs.
          * Even while under the care of a specialist in the hospital, with your permission your primary care physician can access your data from his or her office and keep up with your health.
          * Your care will be safer. Your allergies, current medications, and history will be clearly visible to everyone who cares for you thereby reducing the chance that newly ordered medications or treatments can have an adverse interactive effect.
          * Your caregivers will have more time to spend with you. The EMR relieves caregivers of many administrative tasks that take them away from what they really want to do: spend time with you at the bedside.

In addition to the EMR, MCH will deploy the following technology advances.

          * MCH have fully digital imaging (x-ray) equipment, ensuring that the images are high quality and making it possible for those images to be remotely viewed by specialists or easily transmitted to a new physician you may wish to visit.
          * Patient monitoring equipment, such as blood pressure cuffs, will link to the EMR, allowing information that caregivers documented manually in the past to be automatically recorded in the patient’s record. This ensures accuracy of information and translates into more time that the caregiver can spend with patients.
          * The facility will have a wireless network, permitting the staff flexibility to move to patients around the facility.
          * Through a guest wireless network, patients and visitors will have ready access to the internet and their personal email to keep up with family, friends, and business.
          * Customized and timely patient education and health information will be delivered directly to patients through the internet and the televisions in their rooms.
